MEA ATTESTATION PROCEDURE

The Process of MEA can be done after all the certificates or documents issued by Indian Authority. Procedures are given below:
Step 1: Authentication of the Document
Non educational Documents:
- ➢ It is necessary to be attested your documents first by the State Home Department of the issuing of the State or Union territory. Documents like: driving licenses, birth or death certificates, marriage certificates, etc.
- ➢ If your document includes the name, the designation seal and the seal of the department it means your authentication is done.
Educational Documents:
- ➢ The Documents are necessary to be attested by HRD Attestation of the respective State Education Department of the State government or Union territory.
- ➢ If your document includes the name, the designation seal and the seal of the department it means your authentication is done.
Commercial Documents:
- ➢ Your documents should be authenticated by respective chambers of Commerce after it is authenticated by the Ministry of External affairs (MEA).
- ➢ After authentication of your document the rubber stamp of the chamber of commerce must be on each document along with the name and designation of the authorized signatory.
Step: 2 Legalization of the documents by MEA:
- ➢ After the above Authentication your document must be attested by the Ministry of external affairs (MEA).
- ➢ It legalized your documents on the basis of the signatory and stamps.
- ➢ It does not take any specific responsibility for the written contents of the necessary certificate or documents.
After MEA Attestation:
- ➢ Countries which are not the part of the Hague Convention 1961 requires to accept Indian attested document by Ministry of External affairs, New Delhi
- ➢ After MEA Attestation Documents are valid for the further processing by their embassies/consulates of various purposes.
- ➢ You can legally use your attested documents After all the processing of MEA Attestation.

Note:
- 1. Make sure that your documents should be original.
- 2. Documents will be returned only on production of receipt for payment of the service charge.
- 3. In any case, if the Ministry of External Affairs found your Documents Fake than the ministry may also initiate the legal action against the applicant.
